I find the relationship between Laura and Tommy odd. Tommy kinda plays the "father" role. He supports the family and puts food on the table. I remember when I was little I wanted to marry my dad. Laura has been sheltered and treated like a child so maybe the relationship is similar to a younger me and my father. Although, it may not have been quite as creepy, I can  kinda understand where Laura is coming from.
